2022 Fall Member Show Prospectus

2022 PASTEL SOCIETY OF SOUTH CAROLINA MEMBERS FALL SHOW PROSPECTUS

“Light and Luminosity: The Pastel Experience”

September 19 to October 16, 2022

ENTRY – All PSSC members in good standing and who have paid dues in full (Dues run from Jan 1 – Dec 31) are eligible to participate. (Dues may be paid online on the Pastel Society of South Carolina website prior to or by check at drop-off.) Each member will be allowed up to three (3) entries. There will be no size limitation. Works must be in soft pastel, no oil pastels accepted.

ENTRY FEES - $30.00 for the first entry. $15.00 each for second and third entries. Fees will be paid at Drop Off by check made out to the Pastel Society of South Carolina.

PUBLICITY IMAGES: Six high resolution images of artwork (which will be in the exhibition) will be needed for postcards and publicity. The first six images received will be used. Submit to emilee48@yahoo.com by August 15, 2022.

SUBMISSION OF ARTWORKS - Members must submit the artist’s name, title of the work (s), medium, price or NFS, size, and contact information, (either email or phone number) via email to Barbara Kohn at emilee48@yahoo.com by September 7, 2022.  Member entry forms and prospectus will be available for download on pastelsocietyofsc.com. Bring your entry form and attach the labels to the back of your painting (s) in the upper right corner at Drop off. Entry number will be assigned on arrival.

DROP OFF – Old Santee Canal Park Interpretive Center on Sunday, September 18, 2022, from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. NOTE: When you arrive at the gate, tell the guard that you are Dropping Off artwork for the show and you will not be charged the Park Fee.

RECEPTION AND AWARDS: A reception will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the Old Santee Canal Park Interpretive Center from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm. NOTE: When you arrive at the entrance gate, tell the guard that you are attending the reception and picking up artwork so you will not be charged for the park Fee. The awards will be announced and presented at the reception.

AWARDS Member Division – 1st Place ($150.00), 2nd Place ($125.00) 3rd Place ($100.00) four (4) Honorable Mention Awards ($50.00 each). Member’s Division for 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place winners will receive one (1) Signature Point. Signature Division - 1st Place ($150.00).

PICK UP – October 16, 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm (NOTE: All artwork must remain hanging until after the Reception and Awards have been presented). If you cannot pick up your painting, please plan for someone else to do so. Storage is not available, and all artworks must be removed. 

ARTWORK SALES – All sales will be the responsibility of the artist. Old Santee Canal Park does not receive any commission from the sale of artwork. 

RULES 

All artwork is to remain on display until the close of the show. Neither the PSSC nor the venue are liable for any damage to or theft of artwork.  Only visual fine arts in the form of paintings and drawings are acceptable for PSSC exhibitions or shows.  Decorative, computer generated, or any other electronically assisted works are not acceptable.  Original artwork only.  Works previously entered in PSSC shows and exhibitions are not eligible.  Works previously entered in PSSC shows and exhibitions and have been “reworked” are not eligible.  All artworks must have been created in the last two years.  All artworks should have quality framing and no “sawtooth hangers.” 

All paintings done in a school, online demos, “follow along” or YouTube videos, online courses, school-monitored studio, workshops, under instructor supervision or copied from published photographs or photographs made by someone other than the artist or painted over mechanical reproduction are ineligible and will be rejected. 

All subjects and styles are eligible, from traditional to contemporary.  Artwork must be predominantly (80%) soft pastel.  Exhibitor must have full copyright to any piece submitted. 

The PSSC Board of Directors, Exhibition Chairperson (s), committee members and gallery staff will have the right to reject any work deemed inappropriate or in violation of any rule at any time. 

By exhibiting in this show, you accept any and all liability for damage to or loss of your work. Neither the PSSC nor the venue offer any form of liability coverage for your work. 

NOTE: Any violation of the prospectus/exhibition rules/guidelines will result in the removal of the artwork from the exhibition, loss of any award, ribbon and awarded Signature Points (if applicable), loss of entry fees, and suspension from entering the next two judged exhibitions/shows.  The Exhibition Committee is empowered to accept or reject pieces.  Any subsequent challenge will go to the PSSC Board for a final decision.
