Our guest artist for the January 11th meeting (held via Zoom) will be the wonderful and talented Dave
Kaphammer, PSA, IAPS-MC. Dave is also a signature member of Pastel Painters
Society of Cape Cod, an Artist Member of the Copley Society and an active
member of the Rockport Art Association, Concord Art Association, the Pastel
Society of New Hampshire and the Pastel Society of Connecticut. He also
currently serves as president of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod.
The topic will be “Bringing Simple Structures to Life with Shadows”, and Dave
will demonstrate how careful attention to the particular qualities of light and
shadow enhance the emotion and drama of architectural paintings.
In Dave’s own words “I seek out inspiration in light and shadow. I am fascinated
with warm low afternoon sun that creates drama and magic, gives form, and infuses a scene with
emotion. The strength of trees, their blue shadows cast on virgin snow, or their reflections in ponds and
creeks, to me are endlessly fascinating.”
